Also avoid having your furniture too close to a heat source, whether its a fireplace or a vent. The fireplace poses the risk of your furniture catching on fire and the heat will cause your wood to warp. Becareful when placing wood furniture in the bathroom. The wood will absorb the moisture and warp.

Repairs
It's often unavoidable. Your furniture will receive some scrathes, dings, and nicks. Here are a few tips to remedy these situations. To improve scratches you can take a walnut and cut it in half. Rub the side of the walnut which you cut directly on the scrath. After it fills in, apply some polish. If you have some dents in your wood you can make it look better. Simply apply a damp cloth over the dent and apply minor heat to the cloth. This can be dangerous. If done wrong you can cause even more damage.
