Marble Coffee Tables

This particular coffee table is a generally more expensive than other coffee tables. And the reason for that is the marble. If the coffee table you plan on purchasing is made from 100% marble, be prepared to pay more than a thousand dollars. In order to keep the price tag down, there are a lot of coffee tables that only have marble on the table part. The rest is made of wood, metal, or what have you. Another way that you can purchase a lower priced marble table is by buying one made of cultured marble. Cultured marble is made up of marble dust that is basically glued together.

Marble Care

Since marble is a high cost material, we want to inform you of how to make your marble table last as long as possible. Marble is porous. Which means that there are thousands of pockets filled with air inside marble. Your goal is to make sure that those pores remain filled with air and not the beverage you just spilled.

Spills
You will want to clean up immediatly after you have spilled something on your marble table. Wipe up the liquid with a cloth. It's also a good idea to place your beverages on coasters. If your beverage is anything but water it has a high potential of staining or etching your marble surface.

Stains
Get a paper towel, napkin, or any other soft and light colored object. Dampen it with a marble cleaning solution and apply it to the stain. You don't need to scrub at all. Simply place the paper towel directly on the stain and let it sit. If you have a particually resistant stain you may have to continually apply this method for 48 hours.

If your marble is stained with an oil based product such as hand lotion, cooking oil, and so forth, you will want to use a different method to remove the stain. Simply apply baking soda over the stained area and gently rub the area with a damp cloth. Repeat the process until the stain is eliminated. If it persists let the baking soda stay on the stain for 24 hours and then rub the area with a hot moist cloth.

Regular Care
For regular care of your marble coffee table, simply wipe the surface with a cloth dampened with lukewarm water. Then dry it with another cloth. You should do this at least once per month. If your table recieves heavy use you may want to wash it twice a month. We also recommend that you use a solution speically designed for marble surfaces twice a year.
